This is a strict, tiered cancellation policy — please read it in full before booking.
This is a strict cancellation policy. Cancellations made 7 or more days before your scheduled rental receive a full refund, minus a non-refundable booking fee of 10% of the total rental cost. Cancellations made 3–6 days before your scheduled rental receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made less than 72 hours before your scheduled rental, and no-shows, receive no refund and forfeit the full rental cost and deposit.
One reschedule is permitted at no additional charge if requested at least 72 hours before your scheduled rental, subject to availability and any difference in seasonal rate. Requests to reschedule made less than 72 hours in advance are treated as a cancellation under the policy above and are not guaranteed.
Rental time begins at the scheduled start time regardless of arrival time. Arriving late does not extend the rental period, and no refund or credit is given for time lost due to late arrival. Vessels must be returned at the scheduled end time; late returns may incur additional hourly charges and may affect the next scheduled renter.
Safety comes first — this is the one exception to our strict cancellation policy above. If SOPIF determines conditions are unsafe for your scheduled rental (high winds, storms, small craft advisories, or other hazardous conditions as determined by current marine forecasts and advisories), we will offer a full refund or a free reschedule, your choice, regardless of how close to your rental time the determination is made. This determination is made by SOPIF staff based on official marine forecasts, not by renter preference alone.
A deposit of 25–50% of the total rental cost (depending on vessel class) is required to confirm a booking. Deposits are fully forfeited for cancellations made less than 72 hours before the scheduled rental, or for no-shows, as described above. Otherwise, deposits are applied toward the total rental cost.
Renter is responsible for any damage to the vessel, motor, or equipment beyond normal wear and tear, up to full replacement value, as described in our Terms and Conditions. The security deposit may be withheld in whole or in part to cover repair or replacement costs; renter remains liable for any amount exceeding the deposit.
In the event of circumstances beyond either party's reasonable control that prevent the rental from occurring — including but not limited to natural disasters, government orders, or marina/dock closures — SOPIF will offer a free reschedule or refund at its discretion, evaluated separately from the cancellation tiers above.
